One Day I'll Fly Too

Finished it! But DA-YAM, this took ages! The WIP is here: [link]

In hindsight, I didn't have much more to do from that WIP, but I was really nervous about getting the kite wrong! (I've never drawn one before, weirdly.) But the background is intentionally really simple compared to the foreground, so it was more a matter of shading than time... anyway...

This isn't really a fanart, but I've been reading quite a few books where they mention that young dragons can't fly until their wings develop. Poor things! Kites must make them feel quite wistful. Or bitter. Perhaps in the next scene the kite should be on fire.

WHSmith Colouring pencils and biro on A3 paper, took about 14 hours + scanning, levels and swearing time.

EDIT: Because last time someone wanted to spot things, there are: two ladybugs, a caterpillar, a beetle, a moth, a butterfly, a bird, a mouse, a rat and a bee.

And the flowers/trees are: sweet peas, morning glories, lavaterias, cherry blossom, almond, clematis, oak and a victoria plum tree. Most of the references are from my grandma's back garden.
