The Eaten One

'The Tombs of the Atuan' from Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea Series has always been one of my favourite books, mainly because of the character of Tenar. She's essentially enslaved to the dark spirits that haunt a labyrinth under a temple complex, and from childhood she's sent to sacrifice people to them and find her way through the maze in the darkness. Light is a sacrilege, but when someone breaks into the labyrinth with a light she is drawn to it.

Since I'm a massive fan of Mucha, and I wanted to show her being swallowed up by the stone maze, I decided on this style. Colouring pencils, ink and gel pen on A4 card.
